Vietnam has a rich history filled with many interesting events and historic achievements. Going to this country, you should first try to get to know its deep culture and way of life, unique even for this part of the vast continent. Let's try together to get to know this unique country better, and dwell on the most interesting facts that not everyone knows about.

Greetings from Paris

It is no secret to anyone that the Vietnamese state was under the influence of the French colonialists for a long time. This could not but affect some of the local habits. For example, there is no bread as such here. Instead, everyone can buy a French baguette, which outwardly differs only in smaller sizes.

This is the main component of local sandwiches, which, in addition to the French loaf, include a delicious filling of assorted fried meat, fish, vegetables and even scrambled eggs. Having tasted this kind of instant food, you conventionally note another reason to return to this distant Asian country.

Transport in Vietnam

When you first find yourself on the streets of Vietnamese cities and villages, the first thing that catches your eye is the almost complete absence of cars. There are very few of them here due to the fact that the government has established a huge export tax on this type of transport. Few Vietnamese, exclusively from the wealthy class, can afford this luxury. But mopeds and bicycles on the streets are a dime a dozen.

But the attitude towards pedestrians in Vietnam is surprising. This is almost the only country in the entire hemisphere where a pedestrian does not have an advantage on the road, and is not even perceived as a road user. Although, crossing the road even in the busiest place will not be difficult. One has only to slowly start moving towards the opposite side of the street, as you will notice that all mopeds and bicycles will diligently go around you.

Well, you shouldn't be intimidated by the orchestra of signals that burst from the horns of passing vehicles. I do not know how much this corresponds to reality, but there is an opinion that there is even a norm in the local traffic rules that says that every maneuver must be accompanied by a sound signal.

A little about the economy

Vietnam is among the top five rice exporters. Growing rice in this country is a very painstaking job. The peasants do not use agricultural machinery; almost all of the work is done by hand.

Also in Vietnam you can enjoy even the most exotic types of strong drinks. This is due to the complete absence of excise taxes on foreign-made alcohol. Even the most elite cognac or a bottle of wine will cost you almost nothing. In this regard, the country can only be compared with a huge Duty Free.

Another national treasure of the country is simply an excellent selection of coffee varieties. You can taste its taste in local cafes. Although many tourists who decided to buy several packages home complain that they were slipped a fake. Or maybe the Vietnamese just know the secret of making this drink?

But the most important wealth of Vietnam can rightfully be called first-class silk paintings. Some works of the masters are estimated at simply colossal amounts, up to several hundred Russian rubles! Experts consider such purchases to be the most profitable capital investment. After all, the cost of such paintings is constantly growing. Here is such a "Vietnamese golden sand".
